It is my intention to report on my work as a City Councillor on this blog, at least once a month at the end of the month.
After the first week, however, I'm still processing the tens of requests that have been collected during the election campaign.
I've been on a walk around parts of the ward with council officers and first targets are to get paths and recreational land at the rear of Oxbow Close protected from vehicles, one of which recently took out a fence and fence post - since repaired. A piece of derelict land on Risley Close also needs fencing up again.
I've been talking to officers behind the tram project and travel planning and hope to do more on that in the next week.
I attended an energy session for residents (aimed at cutting the cost of fuel bills) given by Nottingham Energy Partnership and will be looking at the effectiveness of a web-site that allows energy consumers to find a better deal. But it seems likely that the switch to solar energy will be badly hit by announcements on the tariffs announced on Friday.
I've written up a full report on the election for party members and have been prompted by one resident to address concerns about the low turnout in the city centre.
Lilian Greenwood held a social which ... celebrated the election victory and I spoke at that after Gloria de Perio, the MP for Ashfield. Gloria is a spokesperson on home affairs but her key point was that the focus on reducing the deficit is overlooking that the deficit is something like GBP40 billion higher than target now, cos cuts in public services so throttled the economic recovery.
