We exceeded expectations by gaining 8 seats on Nottingham City Council; 6 from the Lib Dems and 2 from the Conservatives.

An easy win in Leen Valley where the Lib Dem leader had been embedded for years and was standing with a tweeting would-be celebrity amateur chef.

Also easy wins in Bridge and Arboretum wards to take 2 more Lib Dems seats and in Bulwell Forest to defeat a Conservative.

For a clean sweep of Lib Dems, Labour came from third to take the final 2 Lib Dem seats in Wollaton East and Lenton Abbey.

And the Tory leader lost too. Amazingly, Labour came from a long way back for one of their candidates to be first in Clifton North. Initially the Tory Leader was ahead of of his 4th place Tory colleague, with Labour's second candidate 45 votes away from taking the third seat. So Labour sought a recount for their second candidate, to no direct avail, but instead to find that the Tory leader had dropped to 4th place by 5 votes, and was out.
