Suppliers of domestic heating systems have been under terrible pressure during the thaw from the two bouts of cold weather we have suffered.
I myself was deterred from first reporting and then from demanding attention to my boiler, because of the pressure of work. All understandable.
British Gas too have had to be rationing and when told of a sufferer of Alzheimer’s system causing the kitchen to be wet, moved beyond the line of saying that they were attending failed heating systems only to saying they’d cover the costs of another engineer if one could be found. One indeed could be found, but he was busy until Wednesday. Except the engineer, who’d had a close relative who suffered and died from Alzheimer’s, realised how distressing the situation would be and gave up his late Tuesday evening to attend the fault.
So cheers to the people who make such sacrifices, not even thinking of whether anyone, anywhere might recognise what they do.
