Contrary then to the notion that Con/Dem budget policy is about freeing up space for the private sector to create enterprise and jobs, AND

Contrary to the notion that the Con/Dems were being open with budget information in a way the Labour government never was,

the Guardian is reporting that -

"that the government is expecting between 500,000 and 600,000 jobs to go in the public sector and between 600,000 and 700,000 to disappear in the private sector by 2015."

So between 2,500 and 3,000 public sector jobs in a city like Nottingham, and between 3,000 and 3,500 private sector jobs.

And perhaps 720 and 960 public sector jobs in a District like South Derbyshire, and between 960 and 1,080 private sector jobs.

The Conservative MP's first campaign pledge was "safeguard existing jobs and work to bring quality employment to South Derbyshire".

Labour understood the importance of keeping jobs. That why we said put people first and secure the economic recovery. We saved between 500 and 1,000 jobs in South Derbyshire because of our intervention after the banking collapse.

That effort will be wiped out, and then wiped out again.

The Conservative MP said in the same leaflet "I will work tirelessly and above all openly to repair our broken economy and restore your faith in government".
