So Nottingham Forest, unbeaten at home for 18 games and not conceded a goal at home for 6, went 1-0 up tonight, enough to guarantee a place at Wembley. Except they went and conceded 4 goals before the final whistle was blown.
Less surprising is the new Conservative - Liberal Democrat coalition to run the country.
Still, it seems David Cameron might at one stage have contemplated voting Labour -
"Compared with a decade ago, this country is more open at home and more compassionate abroad and that is something we should all be grateful for ... "
Or has he already lost the Daily Mail vote?
Meanwhile, Gordon Brown has taken personal responsibility for the defeat. I understand, and can join in with some criticisms to back his point up.
But a number of people are inclined to blame the combination of power and wealth brought to bear on changing public opinion, and the people who actually triggered the global financial crisis.
