The Tories’ chief treasury spokesperson is still not saying what their aspiration for faster cuts to the public services is, despite repeated pressing.

Bizarrely, he seemed to suggest that aiming to cut the debt faster could lead to a higher annual budgets for public services.

Cuts in the next financial year will bring chaos to schools, the Police and council services who will have set their budget.

So embarrassing when other Tories start answering the questions for them.

One outstanding feature of the Tory conference were all the right-wing commentators arguing the state was just too big in principle.
