Mo, Emma & Mike all live in Mapperley ward.
“The last 4 years has seen a lot of improvements in Mapperley ward -
· the Mapperley Sports Village,
· the new children’s centre,
· improvements to our schools and parks,
· new road safety measures,
· more resurfaced pavements.
And improved services too -
· the best exam results ever achieved by our children.
· “MyBus”,
· cleaner streets,
· doorstep recycling,
· pilots of neighbourhood policing &
· lower crime.
And most importantly - a consistent drive on tackling kerb-crawling.
From Mo Munir
Dear Resident,
I’m Mo Munir and I live in Mapperley ward. I’m proud to have served as your Councillor for 4 years.
As a local businessman, I know how important it is to fight for the reputation of our city. I love Nottingham and I’ve chosen to live here, and to raise my family here.
That’s why I chose to serve in a civic post. As Lord Mayor, I’ve spoken up for Nottingham and promoted our ambitious plans to improve it. I’ve worked to bring all sections of the community together.
And I organised a major appeal for the victims of the Pakistan earthquake, and for an Indian village devastated by the tsunami.
I tour the ward regularly to report problems that need fixing and in particular, graffiti that needs cleaning.
Working alongside my fellow Councillors Emma Dewinton and Michael Edwards, I believe we’ve made a difference for the people and the neighbourhoods of Mapperley ward.
We know there is more to do. We are the local team to do it.
Best wishes
Mo Munir
From Emma Dewinton
I’ve been very busy over the last few years on the local and strategic Respect for Nottinghamcampaign which has seen crime fall by 20%.
I work with the Council and outside agencies to assess and move forward regeneration in the city, focussing over the last few years particularly on developing comprehensive action on climate change and effective training provision.
I work with police, housing agencies and residents to monitor & tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in our neighbourhoods, chairing local Community Safety Panels.
I’ve actively supported the work of the Kerb Crawling Task Force - our team of police officers and wardens which has clamped down on crack houses, crime and nuisance. And I’ve campaigned for support and rehabilitation to help women out of prostitution and for the introduction of measures to deter kerb-crawlers and change their behaviour.
I also work with residents groups to improve the environment, youth and sports facilities and services in their local areas. And I’ve championed the improvement of the Coppice Grove Park.
I’ve played an active role in the development of conservation plans for Mapperley Park, Alexandra Park and Hine Hall, and fought many inappropriate planning applications, including those for the Millennium site.
We need to build on the improvements to our neighbourhoods, involving more local residents and young people.

From Michael Edwards.
As Deputy Leader of the City Council, I’ve been responsible for the Council providing better value for the money it raises and providing better services.
In setting the budgets of the City Council, I have driven for efficiencies and dropping the things that are no longer relevant, to meet the cost of inflation and wage increases. All new money raised has been spent on new services or more services.
This year, we’re providing more wardens, more recycling and better support for older people.
Council services have improved. Over two-thirds of our performance indicators are better than before.
I’ve worked for better public transport, including the expansion of the tram, and I lead on tackling climate change, for which the city council is recognised as a national leader.
To keep people informed, I run the largest web-site of any Labour Councillor in the country, reporting news and events. I e-mail many constituents on a regular basis with progress reports.
Michael Edwards.
