There is a concern that older housing in Mapperley, particularly in Mapperley Park and Alexandra Park need to be upgraded in terms so as to be more energy efficient.
This is a particular concern for tenants whose landlords may not be investing fully in the maintenance and improvment of the property.
A range of energy saving schemes are available to landlords and tenants, and here, as of September 2006, is a list.
1. Landlord’s Energy Saving Allowance (BN37) of up to £1,500 per property towards solid wall insulation, loft insulation and cavity wall insulation.

2. Free Loft insulation and Cavity Wall Insulation for private tenants on benefits/tax credits/allowances.
