Viv Bell
Viv Bell, died at the end of May, 2006, after a long illness. The funeral was held on Thursday 8th June at St.Mary's Church in Nottingham, and addressed by Jon Pennington. This will be followed by a private burial near Aviemore in Scotland, a place she loved. Viv Bell used to be a Councillor in Long Eaton and stood for Parliament for Labour in 1979 in Grantham. Viv and her husband, Ian Clark, were both involved in drawing up the manifesto for the Nottinghamshire County elections in 1981, and they agreed to each stand if the other would. Both were elected and served until 1989. For four of those years Viv was chair of social services. She was very highly regarded by those professionals who worked with her, and social services staff. Viv was a solicitor, with a particular interest in family matters. Her last job was as a part-time legal advisor to the Grandparents Association. Viv had been ill for some time, a return of a major illness she first had thirty years ago. She was in hospital for many months, returning home for a short period before being re-admitted. Viv is survived by her husband Ian, and their daughter, Alison.
