30th – Jim Fitzpatrick MP, ODPM Minister meets East Midlands leaders of local government to discuss future governance by local government;
29th – launch of Ruth John's new book - "Nottingham's Family First";
28th – Gordon Mitchell, Chief Executive of Nottingham City Council, announces intention to move on; Gordon has overseen improvements in the way the Council delivers services and has played a key role in repositioning Nottingham as a city punching its weight nationally and beyond;
27th – full Council - adopt Community Strategy; adopt Childrens & Young People's Plan; adopt Local Transport Plan and ask questions on impoving safety on The Wells Road;
24th – attend launch of Greenweeks 2006 at Bluebell Hill school;
24th – One Nottingham Board, sets out six key local priorities in its Community Plan for Nottingham - - tackle drug-related crime to become one of the safest cities in England; - give local people a voice and support them to take the lead in issues that affect them; - promote responsible behaviour and good citizenship; - help all our children and young people to do well at school and college, in particular, help those who under-achieve; - encourage all people from deprived communities to take advantage of the employment opportunities and on-the-job training that Nottingham has to offer and support new business ventures; - help people live longer by helping them to stop smoking, improve their diet, reduce alcohol consumption and take more exercise;
24th – announce appointment of Caroline Churchill as Acting Head of Elliott Durham school;
23rd – City Council awards for the best staff who've "Gone the Extra Mile"; the GEM awards went to a range of managers and teams;
22nd – Gordon Brown's 10th budget - - 10 years of excellent economic record; - free national off-peak bus travel (from 2008) and warmer homes for pensioners; - extra £100m to achieve neighbourhood policing in 2008; - more heating and insulation for more homes; - more money for schools from April;
21st – Mapperley and Sherwood Area Committee; discuss plans to expand "Nottingham in Bloom";

20th – City Council's Road Safety team is awarded "Beacon status" in recogniton of its achievements in reducing injury accidents on Nottingham's roads;
20th – City Council's "InfoPoint" starts at the Guildhall;
18th – extra waste collection service for Alexandra Park, and streets to the east of Woodborough Road as far as Ransom Road; and then for Ransom Road and Caunton Avenue;
16th – Nottingham Friends of the Earth host Michael Meacher MP to talk about tackling climate change;
16th – Mapperley forum - public meeting to discuss local issues at St.Judes Church Hall; convened by the Area Committee, the Mapperley Forum discussed - - Road safety and traffic regulations for Woodborough Road and The Wells Road; - Coppice Grove Rec improvement; - Elliott Durham swimming pool; - Nottingham City Transport; -the consultation of changes to the Mapperley Park and Alexandra Park conservation areas;
16th – Elliott Durham full governors;
14th – Boots announce the creation of a £70m distribution centre in Nottingham this week, seen as securing the company’s long-term future in Nottingham;
10th – meet Police and local Labour Councillors to discuss community issues in Radford;
16th – 30th anniversay of Harold Wilson's resignation as Prime Minister; dramas and documentaries are being shown on TV;
10th – East Midlands Regional Assembly Board meet; discuss future of the Region;
9th – Nottingham, Leicester and Derby council meet to discuss common issues, including on providing more houses to enable more people to own a home;
9th – presentation on the new plans for Midland station is presented to Nottingham Development Enterprise; scheme to renew the station is around the same price as the new East Midlands Parkway station off the A453;
8th – reselected to stand again for the Labour Party in Mapperley ward in 2007;
7th – government report 'State of the Cities' published; · Reversal in the decline of city populations; Cities accounting for 42% of population growth between 1997 and 2003; · Cities provide almost 65% of the new jobs in England (1997 and 2003) with around 40% created in cities other than London; · Racial Segregation has declined between 1991 and 2001 in 48 out of 56 cities.
6th – Approve a Council tax increase of 4.44%; Tories and Lib Dems fail to demonstrate their new party leaders' values;
3rd – Ivor Cutler dies; like many, first heard his songs and poems on the John Peel show; saw him at Nottingham twice;
2nd – Audit Commission publish inspection report on Nottingham City Homes;
1st – Phil Woolas MP, Minister for Local Government, visits Nottingham; discuss city development, the tram and the good work done in Nottingham on Supporting People;
