Much of the housing in Mapperley ward is privately owned.  The City Council runs housing on the Ransom Road & Caunton Avenue, Pearmain Drive, Warton Avenue and Kingsthorpe Close estates.  Tenants voted for housing services to be run by an ALMO in July 2004, which will mean extra investment by 2010.  The Pearmain Drive estate is being refurbished in phases.  The Kingsthorpe Close estate has been dramatically improved compared to the early nineties and CCTV & new doors are planned for May 2006, but demand for such housing may be changing.    Metropolitan Housing run the Ransom Road estate as well as properties on Caunton Avenue and Querneby Road.   Mapperley Park is a Conservation Area, requiring special attention to any planning applications to change buildings or trees; there is a significant private renting sector.
