30th - Sustainable Development review of Den Haag (The Hague in The Netherlands);
29th - Nick Raynsford, Minister for Local Government, announces in Parliament that Nottingham City Council is to be considered for capping; a surprise, given that all the other authorities to be considered had already been issued with a warning letter and been invited to London some weeks ago to discuss their situation; Nottingham's budget was one of the most radical ever, providing new services to tackle key concerns raised in last year's elections, whilst new costs were met from within the existing budget (equivalent to a saving on the Council Tax of 5.1%);
23rd – Representatives of the local authorities in Nottinghamshire meet - and condemn Central TV's decision to move from Lenton Lane and to broadcast regional news from Birmingham;
22nd – EnviroEnergy;
22nd – KFC intend to apply for permission to build a drive-in take-away / restaurant at the site of the Jubilee pub on Marmion Road, off Porchester Road;
20th – Inaugral meeting of the Acorn Residents Association; serving residents between Mapperley Road, Woodborough Road and Cranmer Street (plus Villa Road and Elm Avenue); meet 7p.m. at the Elms School; contact Richard Bartlett on 845 3785 or e-mail acorninfo@ntlworld.com; the aim of the group is to make the area a more pleasant place to live; 35 residents attended the meetying;
20th – Executive Board; next stage for the NET Clifton Wilford route agreed;
19th – visit Eastcroft;
19th – tour of Pearmain Drive estate and Warton Avenue;
14th – Over 60 people met representatives of O2 concerning the planned antenna for Porchester Road; Cllr. Mo Munir attended; information on signals is available in The Stewart Report or from the ICNIRP;
9th – new doorstep recycling scheme started in most parts of Mapperley ward;
9th – new tram has carried over 500,000 passengers in its first month of operation;
8th – meet Midland Main Line to discuss their plans for the new trains (the Meridians) that start serving Nottingham to London in the first week of June; a faster timetable (less waiting at Leicester) starts next May;
6th – City Police commander Les Kominiak announces formation of a new and dedicated anti-prostitution unit, to start in June, at the Mapperley Park Residents Association Annual General Meeting; City Leader Cllr. Jon Collins reports progress on Respect for Nottingham;
6th - Open and Green Spaces seminar, with Countryside Agency; CABE have published a manifesto for better public spaces;
1st - a video by 8 pupils from Elliott Durham is shown at an event at the castle;
23rd – John Heppell MP visits Walter Halls school;
