10th – Transport capital spending for the City Council includes approval for more pedestrianisation of the city centre around Victoria Centre; 9th – Estelle Morris visited Elliott Durham to celebrate progress of the school; "There's a lot of good things going on."

5th – Sherwood shopping centre Christmas lights switched on;

5th – Elliott Durham governors agree action plan to build on green light report from HMI;

2nd – Full Council - supported combined all postal vote and conventional elections for the City Council elections on May 1st 2003; adopted the Local Plan for further consultation, including development at Springfield in Alexandra Park and at Hine Hall; and discussed the future of the A453;
