Mapperley Forum
The City Council's North East Area Committee held a public meeting on Tuesday 6th November, at Walter Halls School (starts at 7p.m.).
This six-monthly meeting offers local residents the chance to ask questions of your local Councillors, or City Council officers, on matters of local concern; as well as to receive presentations on the Council's work.
The meeting focused on tackling problems caused by on-street prostitution.
This included a discussion on proposals to close Lucknow Road and other roads in St.Anns. A straw poll found opinion 3 to 1 against closing Lucknow Road (around 78 against c.f. 26 for). The actual decision will be based on opinions expressed in response to the survey (to ensure every resident has the chance to express their view); so every household needs to respond to the survey.
I'd written to over 450 residents to advertise the meeting and to report progress on various issues.
Probably about 50 people came to the meeting to dicsuss other issues, so an extra public meeting for January may now be called.
