Deep concern about the deep cuts made to the various grants to Nottingham City Council, and finally announced on Monday.
Budget cuts of around £60m will have to made and I wonder how many years of progress this wipes out?
The council currently estimates that we will see a 16.5% cut in Government funding for next year which, along with in-year cuts this year and other Government adjustments, equates to a real-term cut in the council’s budget of around £60m. This means that Nottingham is among the worst-hit councils in the country by the Government cuts and three times harder hit than neighbouring Nottinghamshire County Council.
Key points are:
- £3.3m has been lost to dampen other authorities’ Council Tax rise.
- £2.3m lost on concessionary fares.
- the poorest Councils have been hit worst – we are, therefore, not all in this together.
